A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night and The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy) by Deborah Harkness

Standard

I picked the first book up in a local bookshop as it sounded like a book I would enjoy. At the time I didn’t know it was the first book of a series. These are Deborah Harkness’ first novels and overall they make an interesting, intriguing, gripping read. Historical fiction with elements of supernatural and mystery.

Standard

This book has been on my reading list for ages and finally I got around to reading it. The Girl with the Painted Face is a historical story set in Italy and the different theme of following an acting troupe intrigued me.

We follow Sophie, who in her past had to choose between 4 men of who to spend her future with. Chris is her boyfriend, a bit of a sponger and a bit boring. Sebastian is a rich painter who sounds cute but there is always something about him that warns danger, stay away. Neil at the theatre sounded lovely and Kieran Greenleaf is a musician, but seemed to boast too much and is a bit lazy. Who should she pick? Read the rest of this entry

The Dating Game by Susan Buchanan

Standard

This is the second book I have read by Susan Buchanan. Susan asked me if I would like to read and review this book and as I really enjoyed The Christmas Spirit  this book was definitely on my list to read. The Dating Game also interested me as it is about meeting that right guy through using a dating agency. Read the rest of this entry

A Christmas to Remember by Katie Flynn

A Christmas to Remember by Katie Flynn was the second of my Christmas season books. (Calling Mrs Christmas by Carole Matthews was the first Christmas season book) I have never read any of Katie Flynn’s books before but picked this one because it is a historical story based in post war Liverpool and seemed interesting.
